Mohammadreza holds a PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology (Eindhoven-The Netherlands), where he worked on a thesis entitled: ‘How to Study Transition Problems? Theories, Methods and Models’. His dissertation contains various methodological reflections on systems innovation and transition research as well as theoretical and practical insights about modeling transition dynamics using a multi-methodology approach.

Currently, his main research interests lie on studying dynamics and governance of systems innovation and transition processes. In particular, he draws on systems thinking and systems modeling to study fundamental shifts in social systems, and to design systemic instruments in order to influence transitions.
